Venue Spotlight: Chicheley Hall
Last month we were invited to spend a couple of days at Chicheley Hall, a grade 1 country house tucked away in 80 acres of grounds in Chicheley, a picturesque village on the doorstep of Milton Keynes. We had a great time and wanted to share with you our experience and what this beautiful venue has to offer for events.
Here’s what we got up to…
We arrived in Chicheley on a glorious Sunday morning, so we decided to explore the area before checking into our accommodation. We went on a country walk around the village, where we enjoyed lovely views and got to pet some local donkeys and alpacas. After the walk we enjoyed a spot of Sunday lunch at the Cock Inn in North Crowley, a village next door to Chicheley. This traditional English pub served tasty food and the staff were very friendly, so we’d highly recommend!
After lunch we made our way to Chicheley Hall. As we entered the property grounds and made our way down the vast driveway, the amazing building unveiled itself in all its glory. It’s a truly impressive building that beautifully showcases early 18th Century architecture. We later learnt that the location has been used for filming television projects such as Pride and Prejudice, The Meaning of Life and Black Beauty.
From the moment we arrived we received a very warm welcome and great hospitality! We checked into our bedroom, which was a lovely, bright and a very spacious room overlooking the lake. The venue has 48 individually furnished bedrooms, all of which offer original features teamed with modern amenities.
Although we were tired after an active day, we couldn’t resist a stroll around the beautiful grounds and a glass of wine at the Chester Arms, another traditional pub that’s only 5 minutes walk from the venue. We ended the day with a 3 course meal in the hotel restaurant and a friendly, yet competitive, session of board games in the hotel library.
The next morning after a restful sleep and a harthy breakfast, we were taken on a tour of the event facilities. Conveniently located on the outskirts of Milton Keynes, just a five-minute drive from the M1, the venue offers 9 flexible meeting rooms for up to 100 delegates, in-house AV, free, superfast Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and in-house catering for any occasion. There is also plenty of outdoor space, which would be perfect for team-building or outdoor events. Its secluded location offers a lovely respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, while its proximity to good transport links provides the convenience you require. This, teamed with a full spectrum of flexible facilities for residential events and excellent customer service, provides something truly special for events.
Before heading back we decided to explore the area further and visited nearby Willen Lake Park, which is perfect for any outdoor enthusiast with walking routes, bike hire, watersports and tree top walking.
There is plenty more to do and see in the area. Some top recommendations include; Bletchley Park for a cultural experience, Xcape for indoor adventures and Centre MK for shopping.
All in all, Chicheley Hall gets thumbs up from You & Us!
