The client brief was simple; to promote WOSCON comic con to the target audience in a creative way that would demonstrate what visitors to the event could expect and boost ticket sales. For this project we teamed up with a local marketing agency, The Brand New Idea. The target audiences were families and students, so with that in mind we identified some key areas to hold interactive pop up promotional events in the run up to the convention. We designed a superhero takeover weekend, which we ran in local shopping and entertainment centres such as Meadowhall and Crystal Peaks in Sheffield. Passers by were stopped in their tracks by life sized statues, dressed up superheroes and limited edition memorabilia (not to mention the Bat Mobile!) on display. As a result of these events we pre-sold over half of the 5,000 tickets.
